E-mail Setup on a Mobile Device

The following instructions include images of an LG Slider phone.
Most every phone is different, but the basics still apply. Call if you have any questions.

1. Look for Email, usually found in the Messaging, or Messages menu.

2. Choose "Add Account".

Note: We had to select the "home" tab (looks like a little house) to get to this screen. Some phones will call it accounts, settings, or preferences, instead of home.

Tip: This particular image is a bit blurry, but you can see that it already has two e-mail accounts setup (Wwh, and Wbd). You can set your phone to check multiple e-mail accounts as well. Simply follow these intructions again, after setting up the first account, to add another email.

3. Look for POP or POP3. If not listed in the first menu, choose "More" as in the example image below:

Sidenote: We can also set your custom email to forward to a gmail, hotmail, etc. account.

4. Choose POP (or POP3).

5. Enter full e-mail address, and password:

Note: Password is case sensitive (Email address is not)

6. Enter incoming mail server name and username.

  • Server Name: mail.yourwebsite.com
  • User Name: name@yourwebsite.com
(your full e-mail address, not just your name)

By default, most phones will list yourdomain.com as the mail server; however, it needs to have "mail." added in front of the domain name as in the image below.

7. Enter the outgoing mail server information:

  • Server: include mail. in front of your domain name (same as the Incoming server).
  • Example: mail.yourwebsite.com
  • Port: Default is 25, we recommend 2525. Many ISP's block port 25, but 2525 will by-pass this.

8. Additional Notes.

While the user/login name has to be the full email address, the account name can be anything you want.

If given the option, choose YES to save messages on server, or NO to delete messages from server (NO to saving on phone). Otherwise, any e-mails you view on your mobile device will not appear on your "primary" computer.

Every phone is different then the one we took photographs of in the above examples, so feel free to call us with any questions.
